May ~ Unfinished Wholes, a Celebration of Flaws

I do not know how many articles/blogs/pieces of art I have come across that have been tagged or named “unfinished” and left for the partaking. In other words, whatever is labelled unfinished is either meant to stay that way or will be further worked upon in stages at later dates.

I like unfinished pieces because they remind me of humanity – perfect imperfection and imperfect in its perfection. That last line was actually meant to help you understand this better – that in our unfinishedness, we are actually whole.

Whatever, in my mind, renders a piece unfinished is exactly that – a rendering, a rendition – a translation or my interpretation of the artist’s language, never in its entirety absolute verity.

Unfinished is sometimes considered a flaw. Flaws since time immemorial have been reserved for ashamedness, but not anymore. The advent of an art that captures our flaws brings to light much of the beauty hidden inside – the wrinkles during a smile, a chipped front tooth, a lopsided grin, uneven breasts; or even a mole that has made its home on a chinny chin chin. Being flawed might make it seem like a thing is unfinished or improperly done, but many times, the ones who set the standards are heavily flawed themselves.

Flawed or Unfinished is good;

And sometimes, through the right lenses, unfinished is flawed is…

beautiful
